18 Sep 2 Seas in Frankfurt 2011
By Marleen Seegers – first posted in September 2011.
After a highly satisfying participation at the Beijing International Book Fair, where existing contacts were strengthened and many interesting new ones were established, 2 Seas Agency is now getting ready for THE international book trade event of the year: the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Held each year in October, the FBF has a tradition that spans over more than 500 years. Soon after Johannes Gutenberg had invented printing in movable letters in Mainz near Frankfurt, the first book fair was held by local booksellers. It has now become a meeting place for the industry’s experts. Publishers, booksellers, agents, film producers and authors meet up to discuss about books, media, rights and licences. It generally counts more than 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries, 299,000 visitors and over 10,000 journalists. This year, Iceland is the Guest of Honor, with the motto “Mythical Iceland.”
You can find more information on the Frankfurt Book Fair here.
From October 11-15, 2011, 2 Seas will be meeting with publishers and agents from all around the world, presenting them our Frankfurt Rights List while also on the look out for new partnerships to create and authors to represent. Contact us now in order to arrange an appointment; we still have a couple of time slots available.
Yet, as we pointed out in one of our previous articles, attending the Frankfurt Book Fair is not enough… That is why we will also be visiting French and Dutch publishers in respectively Paris and Amsterdam late September and early October!
