Simone de Beauvoir Book Deal Covered by The New York Times and The Guardian

Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, and the chaos and uncertainty it was spreading around the world, we’re happy to report that good things were also happening here at 2 Seas…

We are immensely honored and proud to have handled the North American sale of Simone de Beauvoir ‘s book The Inseparables to Daniel Halpern at Ecco on behalf of Editions de l’Herne, in a pre-emptive offer.

The icing on the cake — or should I say, la cerise sur le gâteau — arrived not long after we finalized the deal, when 2 Seas Agency was mentioned in connection to Simone de Beauvoir ‘s unpublished novel in The New York Times as well as The Guardian*!

Both newspapers published detailed and compelling articles which cover the discovery of the book and its forthcoming English publication.

The New York Times mentions: “So far, rights to ‘The Inseparables’ have been sold to publishers in 17 countries. Daniel Halpern, the publisher of Ecco, acquired North American right from Les Éditions de l’Herne through Marleen Seegers of 2 Seas Agency, and plans to publish it in the fall of 2021.”

We can now check that box off of our life goals list… ✔️

*It was consequently picked up by several other online media such as The Cut and GCN.
