Spring is coming up soon, and anyone who works in international publishing knows that this means… gearing up for the London Book Fair!
The world’s second largest international book trade show is held from April 8-11. This year marks the end of an era, as it will be hosted at the Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre for the last time. Starting 2015, it will be held at the Olympia venue, while the Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre will be demolished.
As usual, I’ll be attending the LBF all three days — I just double-checked my schedule and this year I’ll have no less than 54 meetings, besides the cocktail parties and dinners at night! I’ll be meeting not only with publishers who are looking for titles to acquire to present them our LBF 2014 Hot List, but I’ll also see our co-agents with whom I’ll discuss our world rights titles, and our clients (publishers and agents) whose rights we represent to hear about their latest must-reads.
Just two weeks before the London Book Fair, another important book trade show is held in Italy: the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. It is THE most important event for children’s and YA publishers, which will take place from March 24-27. Unfortunately we will not be physically present this year, since I’ll be meeting with publishers in Berlin that very same week. We did however prepare a very nice Bologna 2014 Hot List, in which we present a selection of our must-read children’s and YA titles of this spring!

Right, it’s time to start packing my suitcase for my three-week trip—in between my stay in Berlin and at the London Book Fair, I’ll also be visiting publishers in Amsterdam. Now the question is: what will the weather be like?
