New Representation Strategy

New Representation Strategy

By Marleen Seegers -first posted in October 2013.

2 Seas Agency’s client list has been growing steadily since our launch in June 2011. As we explain in detail elsewhere on our website, our activities in the foreign rights sector can be divided in two strategies:

  • Rights representation throughout the world: on behalf of the rights holder, we represent foreign rights all around the world except in the original country of publication. In this case, we join forces with a solid network of wonderful co-agents in specific territories, while handling rights directly in our specialty markets (see below);
  • Rights representation in our specialty markets: on behalf of the rights holder, we only represent foreign rights in (a selection of) our specialty markets France, The Netherlands, the Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden), and the English language.

Over the past year we have started working increasingly with publishers/agents/authors whose rights we represent throughout the world (February Books, Hachette Romans, Le Livre de Poche, etc.), which we are thrilled about!

That is why we recently decided to only accept new clients who wish to team up with us for world rights representation in their title(s).

This has already proven to be a simpler, cleaner, and more efficient strategy for everyone! Our clients and publishing partners are happy, so we are happy too.

We will of course continue to represent those clients whose rights we’d been handling in specific territories only.

Following this decision, we are proud to introduce you to one of our new publisher-clients whose foreign rights we handle throughout the world:

HYPERINK

Endorsed by TechCrunch, Forbes, Publishers Weekly, and Business Insider, Hyperink publishes books from experts and top bloggers including Penelope Trunk, Dave Asprey, and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Topics include startups, finance, fitness, health, current events, etc.

Contact us if you wish to discuss a possible foreign rights representation in your title/catalog!
